Become a taxi driver in Wales with your own car

Take control of your taxi driver work in Wales

In Wales, driving can become a service that fits around the way you want to work. A taxi driver job gives you the chance to use your local knowledge, plan your availability and provide rides on terms that suit you. Whether you prefer shorter trips close to home or want to cover a wider route, you decide how to shape your working day. This is a practical option for people who value independence and want a direct role in passenger transport.

When you work as a taxi driver, you remain in control of the details that matter. Choose the service area where you are comfortable driving, set the hours you want to be available and decide which ride requests fit your plans. There is no need to follow a fixed shift pattern. You can make driving part of a regular routine, focus on selected times of day or adapt your schedule when personal commitments change. The flexibility is especially useful across Wales, where travel needs can differ between local communities and busier urban areas.

To get started, you need to drive with your own car. Your vehicle is the basis for offering rides, so you can work with a car you already know and maintain. Make sure you meet the applicable licensing, insurance and vehicle requirements before accepting passengers. Once these essentials are in place, you can create a driver profile and present your availability clearly. The process is designed to let you take the first step without unnecessary complication, while keeping responsibility for your service in your own hands.

A key benefit is the freedom to set your own fare rates. You can consider your driving area, the type of journeys you wish to take and your operating preferences when planning your service. You also choose your own service area, which can help you stay close to familiar routes or expand your reach when it makes sense for you. Registration is free, allowing you to explore the opportunity before committing to a fixed working structure. These choices make it easier to build a driving routine that reflects your priorities.
